Allianz Arena, Munich - TSV 1860 took a huge step towards reeling in the leading five teams in the second divison Bundesliga last night with a well deserved 2-0 win over FC Energie Cottbus.

Captain Benny Lauth was the man on hand to bag himself a brace, opening the scoring with a leaping header in the 35th minute and then finishing off a solid performance in the 90th with an unstoppable shot from inside the penalty area.  Those goals bring his tally to 8 for the season.

Despite missing an abundance of excellent chances to extend their early lead, 'Sechzig' were unable to capitalise on some questionable defending.  Usually a reliable striker of the ball, Kevin Volland was guilty of the worst miss of the match when he was played in by Stefan Aigner with a low cross from the...

easyCredit Stadium, Nuremberg - It's a cliché. But this is the sort of stuff championships are made of.  Defending league champions Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Nürnberg played in arctic temperatures Friday night, both sides never really managed to get their engines going.

But Dortmund managed to shift gears when it mattered and came through with a solid 2-0 away win, after having failed to do so in their previous five visits here. The goal that eventually sealed the game came courtesy of a...

Allianz Arena, Munich - Liam Neeson's new movie 'The Grey' is about plane crash survivors escaping killer wolves in the snow.  For FC Bayern München, they probably felt like they were being chased by wolves on a winter's afternoon.

Until Liam..., er, Mario Gomez saved them.

Gomez scored off his own failed header from a corner kick that VfL Wolfsburg could not clear in the 60th minute, and Arjen Robben finished off the match with a stoppage time goal as Munich escaped with a 2-0 over the...

Bayern Munich host Wolfsburg on Saturday hoping to start another winning streak

FC Bayern Headquarters, Munich - One might forgive FC Bayern München for dwelling on last Friday's 3-1 Bundesliga defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

A valuable three points dropped to a possible title contender, the ignominy of being doubled by Gladbach for the first time since 1996, and a serious injury to central defender Daniel van Buyten were just three bruises that a battered Bayern took back with them to...

Audi Dome, Munich - FC Bayern Basketball are slowly becoming like their big brother on the football side.  Sold out arena, celeb sightings, highly entertaining games, and international stars.  Oh, and victories.

Most of the starting 11 of FC Bayern München were in the stands and they witnessed their mirror image on the court.  German internationals Steffen Hamann and Robin Benzing both scored 16 points as the Ballers dominated EWE Baskets Oldenburg 102-71 in front of a soldout,...
